1990 to 1997 (pre-IPO) & 1998 to 2004 (post-IPO) : ARM Holdings plc, Cambridge, England

On behalf of Apple, negotiated the spinout of the ARM microprocessor development team from Acorn Computers plc. Acorn had designed the ARM and had been the only company using it in products. Recruited the ARM CEO, Robin Saxby. Advised management as a board member for 13 years. ARM became the world’s leading microprocessor intellectual property design and licensing company. In 2016, SoftBank acquired ARM.

1997 to 2010 : Stagecast Software, Inc., Burlingame, CA (co-founder)

After downsizing the company and and resigning as president in 2001, remained board chair.

NON-PROFIT BOARDS

2000 to 2013 : The Gorilla Foundation (koko.org), Woodside, CA

Chaired the Finance Committee. Reviewed marketing, fund-raising and mission-related plans and documents.

1991 to 1994 : Computer Science & Telecommunications Board, Washington, DC

As a member of this working arm of the National Academies, reviewed reports prepared for Congress and Federal agencies and vetted proposals for new reports.

1976 to 1978 : Peninsula School, Menlo Park, CA

Treasurer. Co-created a fund-raising program that succeeded in increasing annual gift levels for the next twenty years. Implemented a computer model to help us determine the optimum amount to ask parents to donate.
